How to Create a Successful Facebook Group

By Akinade Eniolabi

how to create a facebook group for marketing, create facebook group, successful facebook campaigns
If done well, Facebook Groups could be perfect breeding ground for generating leads for your business. Facebook is the second largest website in terms of traffic (behind Google) and it is the number one of the social media sites. Facebook recently announced that its users have gone up to 1.5 billion with active monthly visitors of the same figure, well, if you ask me, that is a hell source of traffic for any webpreneur to pool in some dripping cash! Facebook has proven in a number of ways the power of engagement it poses to its users, as the majority of its billion visitors have turned it to their morning devotions they must observe first before any other thing. Don’t blame them, oh! I mean us for such Facebook addiction, it’s just how easy it has become for Facebook to majestically wield its power of user magnetism! chuckle!!!.

While many big corporations have happened to have one or two Facebook page to promote their businesses or to engage their fans, just a handful of few small businesses are using Facebook groups for promotion. Though Facebook pages are very powerful to promote businesses and gain traffic, especially if you have tons of followers, the real engagement that can quickly convert audience to customers is through Facebook groups. Of course you might not get as many members in your group as you can in a Facebook page, but imagine you create twenty Facebook groups with 500 members in each, that’s ten thousand potential customers at your reach to continue to market to, and don’t forget, your group members are more likely engaged in discussion than page followers. So how do you harness the power of these Facebook groups in gettting your business to limelight?.

First and foremost,

Types of group on facebook

Before going into how to create a successful facebook group for a business, let’s take a look at types of the group you will have on facebook and their distinctive features. Groups on facebook are of three types:
Public, Close, and Secret groups:

  1. Public or Open groups, as the name implies, are groups that are visible to all: Everyone can find them in a search and make a post to them.
  2. Close groups are groups that are visible to everyone, BUT only the members can see and make a post to them.
  3. Secret groups are groups that are visible only to their members, and only their members, of course, can see and make a post to them.

Actually, the underlining differences in these groups come from their privacy settings. Meaning it is the way you have set your group privacy that will determine whether it is a public, close or a secret group, and you can always change the privacy setting of a group any time you like. That is to say, you can change your group from Close to Secret or the other way round as you wish.

You can make a decision about which group you want to set up based on what you intend to achieve with it. If it is to add only your facebook friends to your group you want, I will advise that you go for a secret group. And if you want to invite few other people aside your facebook friends to join your group, you can set up a close group. But if the goal is to get as many people as you can to join your group, then a public group is ideal.

Since this article is focused on using facebook groups to generate leads for business as well as creating ones that can drive as many traffic as possible to your online products/services, so public groups are the best strategy. Having said that, let’s go into the business of creating a group that can become a sales funnel for your business.

Creating a facebook group

To begin with, your niche is the first decision you will have to make about. This is a decision that is capable of making or marring your facebook group effort, hence, the need to take your time enough to research on your niche cannot be over-emphasized. Figuring out a unique interesting niche with low competition is definitely a brilliant business idea. If you can get a specific niché hungry for information and facts and the topic area is reasonably underdeveloped online, you are surely on your way to money spinning business using Facebook groups. Specific niche selection such as sports gear, video games, tattoos, etc, is a good start. Use a tool like Googe KeywordPlanner to get a niché idea. A niche can be in geography and demography, you can choose to be targeting traffic from a particular country or an age bracket depending on your products/services and if your target area is more likely to be interested in your offers than any other areas.

Secondly, find out how the influencers in your niche are doing it by carrying out a little background check on their profile, Facebook wall and posts. New to your niche? You can conduct a simple Facebook search and come up with a list of people who are making waves in your industry. You definitely need this information to prepare yourself for the challenges ahead, by learning from their experiences and how to beat them. Depending on individual, this might take some time but it’s worth the effort.

Thirdly, set up a new Facebook account tailored towards your chosen niche, and become a member of as many groups as it is possible to, relevant to your target field. And make sure you only add people who are interested in your niche as friends. To conduct a facebook group search, simply type,”‘your niche’ groups” into Facebook search facility. For example, Family Pet groups; there are over four-hundred of them!

Fourth, create Facebook groups for your target audience and insert a compelling photo to draw people in. Quite easy!

Fifth, make sure you are adding value, no matter how little, to every one of the groups you joined, this will make people see you as a thought leader they can contact for information. Then you can start sending messages inviting group members to join you in your own Facebook groups and make sure you include your groups URLs in your messages. Additionally, message the group members individually, and invite them using this method. You can tailor-fit your message to a niche as: I see football is a common thing here, let’s meet in my group if you’re looking to wager on your supporters’ clubs, – given your niche as ‘sports wagering’. You can make use of great websites such as Elance or Craig’s List to hire individuals eager to carry out this type of repetitive work for especially very little.

After everything has been set and you are now having a sizeable amount of audience: Start promoting your items, affiliate products and services, Cost Per Action offers or nearly anything else relevant to your developing number of hungry customers!

Promoting your group

There’s just one more area you will have to visit if you want to generate huge market for your Facebook groups. By visiting great internet site called ‘Fiverr.com’, you will find innovative people specialised to perform specific tasks on your behalf; if you are looking to outsource some areas like sending invites and advertising your groups to a large audience. You will find people who are experts in these areas to do the job for just a little, five bucks!. Just search for “Facebook groups” you will find loads of people ready to publicize your groups by recommending it to their countless like-minded Facebook friends. This is the surest bet to grow your Facebook groups!.

If your concern is to begin making money as quickly as possible through these groups, you will need to get down with creating a large volume of them in a wide selection of niches. You can even create Facebook groups as many as you want (but don’t create a Facebook group you won’t have time to promote, coz groups don’t grow themselves like trees!). Insert an appealing pic to draw people into your group, and invite your friends, or pay individuals to invite their friends. Just like any other internet marketing method; success is massively dependent on applying the concepts consistently.

[It is all about creating a buzz to sell anything today, isn't it? But how do you get to drive the attention to yourself if you can't figure out how things will work for you? So you need to bust things up to know how they work... So bust Google's ass to boost your search traffic! That's how that phrase was coined - "ass-busting"]

It's definitely a complicated process but it is the one that can be done. And that's what you will get help with doing on this blog.

A key part of getting seen is being able to use different tactics to achieve a single marketing goal, since search engine optimization is of varied and diverse significance.

I've worked on this end to build this blog to tens of thousands of organic visits per month (without an ad budget) even in the space of limited time for blogging.

I am able to hone my strategy because I've been able to build social signals for this blog which is a key part of what Google sees in determining its relevance to users.

Using a mix of content marketing and social signals, I was able to rank this blog on many keywords I hadn't really been targeting for. In fact, I use those ranking signals to build out the next content strategy for this blog.

I've created a course on this purpose to outline each step I took to get to these milestones. It's a completely self paced course which I've peeled out all my methods into.

Compared to the little knowledge you can gain reading this blog, this course will help you put these tactics into a feasible business use by streamlining them for your easy takeoff.

You can register for this course here:

Pending that, since social media marketing is a "pay to play" affair nowadays between brands and tech companies, I'm also able to provide a service in this space needed to build your business interactions and convey its social signals to search bots.

Note: this is a results-driven strategy using the effort of a team to market your business cost-effectively, instead of heavily invested method of using social ads to generate impressions.
